               12th European VLBI Network Symposium

Registration is now open for the 12th European VLBI Network Symposium
to be held October 7-10, 2014.

The Istituto di Radioastronomia (IRA) and the Osservatorio Astronomico
di Cagliari (OAC) of the Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF), on
behalf of the European VLBI Consortium, will host the 12th European
VLBI Network Symposium and EVN Users Meeting from October 7th to 10th,
2014. Principal sponsors of the event are RadioNet3 and INAF.  The
Symposium will be held in Cagliari, on the South coast of the island
of Sardinia. At this conference the latest scientific results and
technical developments from VLBI, and, in particular, e-VLBI and
space-VLBI (RadioAstron) results will be reported. The timing of this
meeting coincides with the first successful observational tests of the
Sardinia Radio Telescopes within the EVN, and with a number of results
from new and upgraded radio facilities around the globe, such as
e-MERLIN, ALMA, and the SKA pathfinders.  This meeting will also
incorporate the EVN Users meeting.

REGISTRATION AND FEE

Due to the capacity of the conference room, the number of participants
will be limited to about 110 people.
The registration fee is 300 euro until July 15, 2014, and 400 euros
after this date.
The registration fee includes the conference dinner and the trip to
the SRT site.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT
We have a limited budget for support, primarily intended for
Ph.D. students and postdocs. If you wish to apply for some support,
please indicate it in the registration form and send a motivated email
to the LOC (loc-evn2014@oa-cagliari.inaf.it) by June 10.  This email
should contain your current status (Ph.D. student or postdoc) and the
name of your supervisor, a brief description of your research topic
and what sort of presentation you are willing to give to this
symposium. For Ph.D.s requiring an invitation to apply for a VISA,
also a presentation letter from the supervisor is required.

PRESENTATIONS
If you are interested in giving a presentation, either oral or in the
form of a poster, please submit a title and abstract using the online
submission form at the link:

You will need to first register for the workshop before being allowed
to submit an abstract.  The deadline for abstract submission is August
10, 2014.

SOCIAL PROGRAM
The social program includes a trip to the Sardinia Radio Telescope
site and the conference dinner. As is tradition, a football match will
also take place as part of the EVN symposium.

ACCOMMODATION

The conference will be held in the main Hall of the 'Auditorium
Comunale di Cagliari'. The venue is situated within the historical
quarter of 'Marina' in the city center of Cagliari.
Block bookings of a limited number of rooms for the duration of the

We reccommend to book your accommodation as soon as possible since the
first half of October in Sardinia is still tourist season.

HOW TO GET TO CAGLIARI

The international airport of Cagliari is located 7km northwest of
Cagliari.
It takes about 15 minutes to get from Cagliari Airport to the city
center.  Transportation options available to passengers include taxi
services, buses and rental vehicles. More details on how to get to
